Spicy Berbere Popcorn

A bold, fiery twist on the classic snack! This recipe combines the warmth and kick of Ethiopian Berbere spice with the buttery crunch of freshly popped popcorn. Perfect for movie nights or gatherings.

Ingredients

½ cup popcorn kernels

3 tbsp refined coconut oil (or avocado oil)

1½ – 2 tsp Jeblo Berbere Spice, divided

1 tsp sea salt (or to taste)

Instructions

Heat oil & test: In a large heavy pot, add oil and 2–3 kernels. When they pop, the oil is ready.

Infuse lightly: Add popcorn kernels plus ½ tsp Berbere into the pot. Cover and shake occasionally until popping slows. Remove from heat.

Season: In a small bowl, mix the remaining Berbere and salt.

Coat popcorn: Drizzle 1 tsp warm oil over popped corn, sprinkle seasoning mix, and toss well.

Taste & adjust: Add more Berbere or salt if you want extra kick.
