Misir Wot | Ethiopian Spicy Red Lentil Stew

A bold and hearty stew made with red lentils and Jeblo’s authentic Berbere spice blend.

Ingredients

1 cup red lentils, rinsed
2 tbsp Jeblo Berbere
2 tbsp niter kibbeh (spiced butter) or oil (Avocado or Olive)
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cups water or vegetable broth
Salt to taste

Instructions

1. Heat niter kibbeh or oil; sauté onions until soft.
2. Stir in Jeblo Berbere; cook 1 minute.
3. Add lentils and coat with spices.
4. Add water/broth; bring to a boil; then simmer 20–25 minutes.
5. Serve with injera or rice.
