Shiro Wot | Ethiopian Spiced Chickpea Stew

A rich, comforting stew made with chickpea flour and Jeblo’s Shiro blend. Perfect with injera, rice, roti, pita, or tortilla.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Jeblo Shiro Powder
  • 1 tbsp Jeblo Berbere (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tbsp niter kibbeh (spiced butter) or oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2–3 cups water (adjust for thickness)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat niter kibbeh or oil (Avocado or live) in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add Jeblo Shiro powder and stir to coat the onions.
  4. Gradually pour in water, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  5. Add Berbere if desired for extra heat.S
  6. immer for 10–15 minutes until thick and creamy.
  7. Serve with injera or rice.
